Pantone® Spring 2015 : En Plein Air

pantoneThis season’s color choices reflect cool and soft colors with subtle warm tones. With a minimalistic en plein air theme, they take a cue from nature.

“This season there is a move toward the cooler and softer side of the color spectrum. An eclectic, ethereal mix of understated brights, pale pastels and nature-like neutrals take center stage as designers draw from daydreams of simpler times. Remembrances of retro delights, folkloric and floral art, and the magical worlds of tropical landscapes restore a sense of well-being as we head into warmer months.” – Pantone Color Institute®

Bold colors are taking a rest as they accent the softer shades in a supporting role, but do not let them fool you to be lazy! Bejeweled tones are still quite active from the autumn season in navy, ochre yellow and jade green. Floral, folkloric art with a touch of retro, tropical landscapes encompass the seasonal design.

For the men, earthy tones are diverse with deep foundational colors. This season deviates from the women’s palette more so than any previous season. Blues and greens dominate the spectrum for an an unassuming and sophisticated look.

For the clothing, skinny tight pants are long gone with the sweeping, flowy trends. Flared styles from leggings to dresses offer a breathable look for the fresh spring air. Ruffles are a staple for spring and it is no surprise that they are back. And high waist tied belts are back in a multitude of textiles and styles!

Key trend to note is the nostalgic 70’s flair with the fringe, patchwork, colored suede, and light-wash denim making a big comeback! Modern yet oh so groovin’!
